Every day, Ellen DeGeneres engages in real estate deals.
The comedian and daytime television host, 64, and her wife, 49-year-old Portia de Rossi, sold a three-bedroom, four-bathroom home in the posh coastal neighborhood of Montecito, California, for $13.5 million, according to property records.
The 4,780-square-foot house was bought by the Hollywood power couple for $12 million just six months ago, according to public documents. They bought the property through a trust connected to a business manager who has helped them buy and sell a number of other homes.
They decided to list the house for $13.9 million in January, according to public documents. Although it was sold on March 11th, the transaction’s records weren’t made public until recently.
The seller was Soren Urry, president of Park City, Utah-based Synergy Development, a developer of commercial real estate. According to PropertyShark records, the property was purchased through a limited liability corporation that was registered in California. An instant request for response from Mr. Urry was not met.
The property was built in 2018 and has black casement windows and doors throughout, according to images from the listing.
According to the listing with Riskin Partners Estate Group, “Floor-to-ceiling pocket doors that lead to a private garden with fountains and lush plants blur the distinction between indoor and outdoor living spaces.” The transaction’s agents declined to respond to questions about this piece.
The house also has an open floor layout and a chic eat-in kitchen with mirrored cabinetry, as shown in the listing images.
On either side of the main living space is a bedroom wing. The master bedroom is described as having two wardrobes and a marble bathroom with an additional shower outdoors in the listing.
According to listing photos, further amenities include wine storage, a massage room, a pool table area, and outside dining and entertainment facilities. There is also a separate studio that can be used as a gym, workspace, or guest apartment.
Along the Southern California coast, Ms. DeGeneres and Ms. de Rossi have successfully completed a number of real estate transactions. Earlier this month, they paid $20.95 million for a nearly 12,000-square-foot mansion in Montecito, and in December 2020, they will pay $49 million for the 4-acre estate of the comedian Dennis Miller. They sold their Bali-inspired mansion for more than $33 million in the same year.
After 19 seasons, Ms. DeGeneres’ talk show will conclude this year. A request for comment was not immediately answered by Ms. DeGeneres’ representatives.
