The shelves and walls of the kitchen are both white. The ceiling is coffered, and there are big pendant lights over the tables to help with work.
The circular dining room features a wall of windows overlooking the expansive lawn and the Edgartown Great Pond, a mixture of fresh and saline water that flows into the ocean.
There is a screened-in porch with a fieldstone stove for nights when it is cooler on the island.
The bedroom has doors that open up to a private porch with a view of the water (see picture below).
Since late summer 2019, when the Obamas rented the property for a few weeks, rumors of the impending sale have been circulating. The family is frequently spotted on Martha’s Vineyard during summer vacation.
The area has been popular with celebrities and politicians for decades; both Presidents Clinton and Kennedy spent the holidays with their families in this region. This is the first time, however, that a former president has purchased a property on the island.
